The SQS Project – Music for the masses with a difference…
Posted by okakifreak 26th July 2010
There are so many new bands in the scene today, but half of them do not even come close to being professional. Well, here’s a band that knows how it’s done. So welcome to the SQS project…
The SQS Project consists of brothers Sanam and Samar Puri and Keshav Dhanraj, and they play some pretty interesting music, which is in Hindi and is commercial, yet sounds fresh and different. It’s something one would expect to hear in an Anurag Kashyap film.
All 3 members of The SQS Project are multi-instrumentalists, and do quite a lot – Sanam handles lead vocals, piano and guitars, Samar takes care of guitars, bass, synths, vocals, and Keshav looks after drums, guitars and vocals. I did get a chance to check out one oftheir jams, and I was quite impressed.
The difference with The SQS Project is that they bring the aspect of electronica into their songwriting, and it’s all seamlessly done. And while the band is still to take off with their live performances, they’re busy writing songs. Also, in recent news, vocalist, Sanam just won a national level Karaoke competition called KroaKING Season 5, which was organized by Opus (the club) in Bangalore!
I’m sure these guys are going to kick some serious a*s once they hit the gigging circuit, and I for one, can’t wait for them to get started!
And yeah.. Check out some of their practice sessions videos, and don't forget to take a look at their links:
