Speeding Things Up

I see it everyday. Those poor women slogging and sweating away for hours in the gym day after day after day. But a month later? No change whatsoever. Not one sign of any looseness on their snug trackpants, just a look of utter depression on their faces. Not to worry ladies, believe me, i have been on that treadmill to nowhere too and I feel your pain.
And nothing changed for me or my body until I discovered a little secret. That its not just about the amount of exercise you do, or how much you eat. Its equally about what you eat, the kind of exercise you do, and how fast your metabolic rate is moving. Think of it as your own energy burning system.
The faster you burn that fuel, the faster you burn those fat calories, the faster you lose the weight and keep it off! So just like picking the right kind of petrol for your cars engine, you need to pick the right exercise combined with the right food for your diet to ensure that your systems are working at their best speed!
Read on....
- Weight Training: basically those people who lift weights or do any kind of resistance training (including yoga and pilates) have a higher resting metabolic rate than those who do just cardiovascular exercise. So get out there and mix that gym routine up people
- Drink: water is essential for the body to digest food faster and more effectively, so drink more to boost your metabolic power and stay hydrated at the same time
- Intense cardio: Rev up your metabolic rate by taking your cardio workout up a couple of notches. By that I don’t mean spend more time on it, just focus on the quality of cardio time. Instead of just power walking for 30 mins, try alternating between running for 5 mins and walking for 2 instead.
- Eat: loads of raw fruits and vegetables (preferably raw or else steamed) should be on that plate if you want to take your metabolic rate to its optimum level. Along with all the nutrients and goodness with this plant powered diet, you are also getting great fibre and thats the best thing for improved digestion!
